Lim Guan Eng – against corruption or a corrupted official?

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, stated on a press conference conducted on April 28, 2019 that “We hope the people will enjoy this significant change, that is, development which is clean” with respect to the development of  Sandakan, that includes the expansion of the Sandakan airport.

It is quite astounding that the same statement, intent to point out that PH handles construction and governmental contracts in a transparent and noncorrupted way, is done by no other than Lin Guan Eng, that his corruption case was dropped off suddenly, based on a mysterious evidence, with no further information provide to the public. After the case was dropped off, there were public claims of “selective non-prosecution”. The allegedly corruption relates to approval of conversion of land Lin Guan Eng approved during his position as chief Minister of Penang, and him gaining gratification for himself by buying a bungalow below market value.

Mahathir Mohamad didn’t yet manage to clean up corruption from his coalition, although his political agenda states to do so in all Malaysian authorities. Moreover, Mahathir is disregarding any criticizing against Lim Guan Eng actions as the chief Minister of Penang, by claiming it is affecting the “smooth application of our promises and (the) fulfilling (of) our promises”, as if all criticism shall be ceased until PH satisfies their pledges.
